Message from the District Office

Mike Dawson, Assistant Superintendent

Over the past several months, the Monett R-1 administrative team and teachers have reviewed, applied, and been accepted as a recipient of the i3 National Writing Project. The National Writing Project began in 1974 at the University of California and has grown to nearly 200 university sites in all 50 states.  This prestigious honor is made possible through the partnership of Missouri State and our local writing project facilitators. Monett R-1 was the only school district in the Southwest Region to be selected for this powerful professional development opportunity.

This Week's Building Level and Departmental Update

Monett High School
David Miller, MHS Assistant Principal

Monett High School has the privilege to be the home of many outstanding programs. The students and teachers in these programs work very hard to successfully represent themselves and their community. This month we want to highlight and recognize four of these great programs. Students in FBLA, MHS Choir, MHS Speech and Debate and MHS Band have been working hard this semester and competing at the highest level in their competitions. While many of them are still competing and heading to state and potentially national competitions, the following are some of their current accomplishments as recognized by their faculty sponsors. Thank you and congratulations to all of the students and faculty for your hard work and dedication.

Monett R-1 Technology Integration
Lauralie Powell, Technology Integration Specialist

Monett R-1 School District continues to equip students with cutting-edge technology in an effort to encourage and promote 21st century learning. Recently, the district partnered with Capstone Learning to provide our students full access to a digital library called myON Reader.

MyON reader is a personalized literacy program that provides access to the largest integrated library of digital books with reading supports customized to a student’s interest and reading abilities. Created to enhance the reading experience, myON reader develops an individual profile for each student based on his or her interests and reading ability and generates a recommended book list.
