Monett Middle School Student Council
Dr. Apostol, Principal

The Monett Middle School Student Council attended the Missouri Association of Student Councils State Convention at Washington High School in Washington, Missouri, on March 14th-16th. Our MMS Student Council sponsors, Amy Barker and Amber Tinsley, accompanied four representatives to the convention: Kara Turner, Chloe George, Emily Webb, and John Schupbach. These students were among more than 700 students and 200 advisors attending from across Missouri. On Friday, students took part in a variety of leadership activities and workshops. They learned from guest speakers and visited the Washington fairgrounds, where they participated in line dancing, hay rides, dinner, and socialized with other student council members.  The Monett Middle School Student Council was recognized for earning the Honor Council Award for the 2012-2013 school year.

Monett R-1 Food Service
Janie White, Opaa! Food Service Director

Providing healthy meals to students is a very important function of the Monett School District.  Food service is provided through a partnership with Opaa!
The Monett Food Service Department is proud of the role it plays in providing students with a nutritious meal each school day. Our goal is to provide food that appeals to students’ tastes and meets the guidelines of the National School Lunch Program.
The USDA meal patterns require that five components be offered to qualify for a reimbursable meal. A meat/protein, fruit, vegetable, bread, and milk must be offered in specific quantities. These meal patterns are designed to provide 1/3 of the recommended dietary allowances for key nutrients. The menu must also provide no more than 30% of the total calories from fat and no more than 10% from saturated fat over the course of a week.
