        The Monett R-1 School District Board of Education met on Thursday evening, April 19th, at 6:00 p.m. The following business was conducted during the board meeting: 
        Minutes from the regular March Board of Education meeting were approved.
Consent Agenda
        The consent agenda was approved, including the following items: paying the bills, 2013-2014 lunch/breafast prices, 2013-2014 SRTC tuition proposal, addendum to OPAA! contract for summer food serves, library/media program evaluation, ELL program evaluation, and
                                                   Adult Education program evaluation.

Central Park Elementary Celebrates Students' Artwork

          Central Park Elementary students Haley Gaines and Kimberlee Parris were selected to present their artwork at the Youth Art Month Capitol Exhibit on March 26th in Jefferson City. Mrs. Amy Green, art instructor at Central Park, accompanied the students. Both students received certificates, and their artwork was displayed in the Missouri State Capitol Building.

          April is designated around the world as the month to raise awareness of autism. This month-long focus is kicked off on April 2nd with the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day. You’ve probably heard of the significant rise in autism seen around the world, which why it is so important to raise its awareness. In Missouri, it is estimated that 1 in 72 children is now born with some degree of autism, according to www.AutismSpeaks.org.   Others report an incidence today of 1 in 88 children. There is a saying that “if you’ve met a person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism.” The term Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD, is now commonly used, as people with this disorder are seen with a wide spectrum of abilities and characteristics.
