ImageMessage from the District Office
Brad Hanson, Superintendent

Happy New Year and welcome to 2014! Mother Nature sure has thrown us some curve balls over the past month. I do appreciate your flexibility with the school cancellations and the change in plans with PD days. These are some unusual situations, causing the need to improvise.

By this time, you may have already considered some New Year resolutions for personal improvement. If you are like me, some of those may have already gone by the wayside. I do, however, want to challenge each of you to consider two things that will most assuredly make every single one of us better throughout 2014 and into the future.

This Week's Building Level and Departmental Update

Scott Regional Technology Center
David Miller, Director

On January 22nd and 23rd, Scott Regional Technology Center will host sophomore tours. The tours will allow area 10th graders the opportunity to explore our various career and technical programs. Students representing fourteen different high schools will be allowed to visit programs of their choice to explore and ask questions. This will be the second year of the new format, conducting this important event over a two-day period without sending school juniors and seniors. Without our current students, teachers have the opportunity to focus on the sophomores and to engage them in conversation about their program.

A group of teachers from CPE, MIS, MMS, MHS, and SRTC are strengthening their teaching and learning endeavors by participating in a project with fellow educators from other Southwest Center for Educational Excellence school districts. This organization is bringing Alan November, noted leader in education technology, to southwest Missouri to work with area educators. The group initially met in October and was given an assignment related to his presentation for their classrooms or schools.
