Scott Tech Students Strive for Gold on NCRC Proficiency and State Assessments.
Seniors at Scott Regional Technology Center just completed the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) tests last week. Scores are not yet in for all the students, but we are anxiously awaiting the results. Why? The NCRC is a certificate that never expires and gives the student a way to prove during the hiring process his/her ability to do the job with work-ready skills.  More employers are beginning to require this certificate before even considering the applicant for an interview. To earn the NCRC, the student must earn a passing grade in the following areas: Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information. Based on scores, students will be awarded a certificate at either the bronze, silver, gold or platinum level.

Signs of spring can finally be seen around Monett, a welcome sight after the brutal winter of 2013. Soon it will be warm enough to attend outdoor sports events and other activities with family and friends. Many of us look forward to spending time in the sunshine, but certain precautions should be taken to prevent too much exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet radiation, the main cause of skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common kind of cancer, with about 3.5 million cases identified every year, and the number is growing.
