ImageMessage from the District Office
Brad Hanson, Superintendent

As we draw near to the end of another school year, I want to take time to thank everyone responsible for making the Monett R-1 School District such a great place for students to learn. From classroom teachers to kitchen cooks, from teacher assistants to maintenance/custodial personnel, and from building-level secretaries to principals, each and every employee of this school district serves to make a positive impact in the lives of children each and every day. This commitment is why we continue to be “Student Focused” and “Future Driven” in our endeavors.

Transitions at Monett Middle School

For almost a decade, MMS students have received a “double dip” of communication arts and mathematics. A seventh grade student has been required to take a year-long reading class in addition to his/her communication arts class. The same student has taken a semester of a math elective in addition to his/her math class. Conversely, an eighth grade student has taken a semester of a communication arts elective in addition to his/her communication arts class. The same student has also taken a year-long math elective in addition to his/her math class.

MHS: Students Enter to Learn; Leave to Succeed

The 2014-15 school year has certainly passed very quickly.  It seems just yesterday that we were welcoming students for what promised to be an exciting year.  This has been a memorable year with great accomplishments by many individuals, groups, and teams at MHS.  But the greatest accomplishment for our students and staff happens tonight - graduation!

I'm sure for the parents of current seniors tonight will be a bittersweet experience.  Bitter in the fact that their “babies” have grown into young adults and will be beginning the next phase of their lives.  Sweet in the sense that their child has accomplished a major milestone in life - the completion of high school.  Whether going on to more education, entering the world of work, or serving our country, each graduate and family should be proud as he/she walks across the stage and is recognized tonight.

Scott Regional Technology Center
David Miller, Director

The Scott Regional Technology Center Recognition Nights were held April 29th and May 1st in the commons area at Scott Tech. The recognition night had been moved to the gymnasium at Monett High School the last two years to accommodate the large crowds. It was decided to move the ceremony back to Scott Tech, so this year half of the programs were presented on Tuesday night and the other half on Thursday night.

One hundred and twenty four students were recognized as Passport Recipients. These students successfully completed one of the fourteen career and technical programs, achieved a “B” average in their program area with no more than six absences in a program year and were recommended by their instructor. Forty-nine more students were recognized as program completers, meaning they have been enrolled with a passing grade in both years of a two-year program, and fifty students were recognized for participation in a Scott Tech program.
