Summer Food Service Program 2014
Janie White, OPAA! Food Service Director

Don’t miss out on FREE breakfast and lunch during the summer!!

Good nutrition is essential for effective learning every day, all year long. Just as learning does not end when school ends for the year, neither does the need for good nutrition. Children who aren't hungry learn better, act better, and feel better. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) helps children get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the summer months.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided without charge to all students enrolled in summer school as well as to all children in the community 1-18 years of age. There are no income requirements or registration. In the Monett School District we will have three open sites to eat breakfast and lunch.

Monett Elementary School
Susie Gasser, Principal

Monett Elementary wound down the year with a week of fun and celebration! End-of-year testing is complete, and we have seen great results in reading and math with our students!

We ended the year celebrating exceptional 4th quarter behavior with the Big Event for those students earning forty or more brag bands this quarter for positive behavior. Students had the option of running in an “abbreviated” color run or playing with water toys for their time slot in this quarter’s celebration. Students also enjoyed a few hours of the annual “field day” with their classmates before leaving for the summer. Coach McPheeters does a fabulous job of organizing games and other physical fitness activities with the help of many parent volunteers.

Monett Central Park Elementary School
Annette Cozort, Principal

Central Park celebrated the 2013-2014 school year with many end-of-year activities! On May 15th and 16th, our CPE fourth graders visited the Laura Ingalls Wilder homestead. The Laura Ingalls Wilder House in Mansfield, Missouri, also known as Rocky Ridge Farm, was the home of author Laura Ingalls Wilder from 1896 until her death in 1957. Our students have been studying her life and accomplishments from our Reading Street program. Students were excited to see artifacts and memorabilia from her life and the home where she lived.

In addition to field trips, our CPE students celebrated the end of MAP with a walk to and treats at Monett North Park! CPE had 100% of all third and fourth grade students complete the MAP assessment! Great job, students and teachers, for your hard work this year in preparing for our MAP assessment.

Monett Intermediate School
Peg Bryan, Principal

MIS finished the school year with a BANG! Students and teachers have spent their time taking the MAP tests and celebrating their accomplishments. Students and teachers had a wonderful time celebrating our PLC accomplishments by participating in a variety of activities: playing on inflatables (donated by the YMCA!), playing dodge ball and kickball, dancing, and playing Bingo and other board games with their friends.

DARE graduation took place on Monday, May 19, 2014. Students who met the DARE graduation requirements were presented with a certificate and spent the afternoon at the YMCA.    Eight DARE essays chosen to be recognized and read during the DARE graduation program were written by the following student authors: Cassie Ashby, Jackie Ashby, Lily Easter, Talia Mitchell, Angelina Sanchez, Amy Tsai, Logan Umfleet, and Alexandra Valenciano. We thank Officer Jastal for his time and efforts in teaching this program to our sixth grade students.
