Student Focused...Future Driven
Message from the District Office
Dr. Brad Hanson, Superintendent
Welcome back to the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year! Although it was a short summer,
there is excitement in the air as we begin another school year. Our theme for this year is
“Under Construction…Creating Customized Learning.” If you have driven by our MHS/SRTC or MMS/MIS campuses, you will most certainly notice the construction zones that have been created and will remain a fixture of our lives over the next several months.
During our opening meeting with faculty and staff, I challenged our team to make some connections between the world of construction and our daily purpose of educating our community youth. After all, we are responsible for “constructing” effective learning experiences for all students each and every day.

What Is Your Personal Technology Goal?
With the start of a new school year comes the anticipatory fresh starts of meeting and working with new people and setting work and study goals. Why not add a Personal Technology Goal to your list? It would be easy to get overwhelmed with everything digital, but pick an area, tool, or event, and go for it.
Perhaps you would like to add a social networking tool to your life. Several teachers not only explore Pinterest to share and explore personal interests, but there are several educational “finds” as well. Everything from bulletin board ideas to classroom management tips to flipped classroom ideas can be found on Pinterest. Yes, you can get distracted and explore in other directions but what fun!

Monett Elementary School
Susie Gasser, Principal
MES students and staff are happy to be back to school!! We got off to a great start this year and set a record with all students being in the building by 8:10 a.m.!! For the first week of school, students may go straight to their classrooms beginning at 7:30 a.m. or after they eat breakfast if they are eating breakfast at school. Parents may also walk their child to his/her classroom during these first four days of school without stopping in the office to get a pass. We have school staff members located throughout the building with maps and class lists to assist parents and students with finding their location. Beginning on Monday,
August 18th, parents are asked to leave their child at the door or the car and allow him/her to walk in by himself/herself. There will always be staff members on supervision duty to assist any students who need it. Students not eating breakfast or participating in the Morning Mile will wait in the gym.

“Ready…Set…Start Your Engines!” Central Park welcomes you to a great new school year where we are “On the Road to Success!” We would like to introduce you to and welcome our new Central Park teachers to the district starting with Rachelle Weatherly, grade 3 teacher; Gina Moran, resource teacher; Morgan Hastings, speech pathologist; and Ryan Smith, counselor. We are excited to have them join our team!
CPE teachers kicked off our back-to-school meetings last week by having professional development meetings focusing on team building, problem solving, PLC and PBIS training, along with a review of routines and procedures in order to have a smooth start to school. Open House was held on Thursday, August 7th, with a packed house! It was terrific to welcome back our students!

Monett Intermediate School
Peg Bryan, Principal
We're off to another great start at MIS. We are so excited to welcome our new fifth graders, newly enrolled students, and our "veteran" sixth graders. We appreciated all the families who attended our Open House. We have great things planned for this year and have been busy getting geared up to help our students...Dream Big. Think Big. Go Big! We are excited about our Morning Mile project and appreciate all that Patty Bounous, Alex Hutchings, and our MIS Wellness Champions are doing to help us get healthier.
If you haven't visited the MIS/MMS campuses lately, you need to drive by. We have a big dirt pile at MIS, as our FEMA shelter is in the midst of construction! Drive by and watch our FEMA shelter take shape.
